The Town BoardHow it works8 October 2026

A board, not a machine.

Most job sites are built for volume: thousands of listings, most of them old, most of them somewhere else. This one is built for a town. It is short on purpose, it is read by a person, and it tells you exactly who to write to.

For employers

  1. Write the vacancy. The title, the hours, the pay, what the work actually involves, and who applications should go to.
  2. Send it in. It lands with the board owner, not on the public page — nothing appears until it has been read.
  3. It goes live. Usually within a day. Applications arrive at your email address, and you can ask for the post to come down as soon as it is filled.

For people looking

  1. Search in your own words. “Weekend”, “driving”, “kitchen” — or filter by kind of work and hours.
  2. Read the whole post. Hours, pay, location and the person to contact are all on the page, so you know what you are applying for.
  3. Apply by email. Your details go straight to the employer. No account, no portal, no waiting for a login link.

What we will not do

We do not scrape vacancies from other sites, we do not let agencies flood the board, and we do not sell your details to anyone. There is no tracking on these pages and no advertising.

If a post turns out to be misleading, tell the owner and it comes down. The board is only worth reading if what is on it is true.

Drag sideways — questions people ask

Does it cost anything to post a job?

No. Posting is free for employers in and around the town. Write the vacancy, send it in, and it goes up once it has been read.

Do I need an account to apply?

No. You fill in your name, your email and a few lines about yourself, and it goes to the employer. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to remember.

Who sees my application?

The employer, and the board owner as a fallback so nothing gets lost in a spam folder. It is not published anywhere on the site.

How long does approval take?

Usually within a day. Every post is read by a person before it appears, which is what keeps the board free of dead listings and agency spam.

Can I send a CV?

Paste a link to it — a shared drive file, a personal page, anything with a web address. That keeps the board light and means you can update your CV without re-applying.

A job I applied for has gone. What now?

Posts are taken down once they are filled. If you applied, the employer still has your email and can come back to you — being taken off the board does not mean you were rejected.

Get on the board

Whether you are hiring or looking, it starts in the same place. Employers write the post; everyone else reads it.
